Learning Spanish is a lot of work. But that’s ok because achieving any goal is a lot of work. The real challenge is in making the work fun and enjoyable so you feel like continuing.
Your textbooks will give you all the Spanish verb conjugations. You’ll get reading practice from short stories. You’ll get listening practice from CDs and audio tapes.
And, if you follow the book from page 1 to page 400, you will learn Spanish. However, there is only one problem. You many die of boredom first. And once boredom sets it, then you have the perfect excuse to stop studying.
That’s why changing things up and making them more fun and exciting is the way to go.
For example, instead of doing all your reading from the textbook, you can find comic books in Spanish. And rather than write about what you did last weekend, you can write out your to-do list, or your goals of the day.
And while you’re at it, why not make conjugating verbs more fun by creating rhymes and songs to help you remember?
So you see, adding a little variety is easy. Which is why your next step should be to visit youtube.com. If you’re not familiar with youtube.com it’s the website where you can view videos online. For your purposes, you only need to type in learn spanish or fun learning spanish or laugh and learn spanish, whatever comes to mind. Then you choose the video you’d like to see.
Open a few to get an idea of what’s out there. Most videos are only 3-5 minutes long and can give you a great lesson that you weren’t expecting. And, once you find a series of videos that you like, jot down the name of the person who uploaded them. They probably have even more resources on other web pages.
But be aware! Just like there are thousands of websites that are worthless, there are a lot of videos that are also worthless. Take your time and look for something that appears professional.
Just keep in mind that these videos are not going to teach you the language in 5 minutes. They are meant to use when you need a break from your daily routine. You have a daily study routine, right?
It’s important to get some type of studying in everyday. In the end, 5 minutes everyday is more valuable than 2 hours one day a week.
So, in order to get those 5 minutes in, make sure you include a trip to youtube.com for a walk on the wildside.
Afterall, you can always go back to the textbook the next day.
Happy studying!.
